Q:
| What is the Dealer Candidate® Course? |
|
A:
| The primary purpose of the Course is to develop equipment dealers and
location manager candidates, next generation family members and minor
stockholders into well-rounded leaders. The second purpose is to help
existing dealer-owners and managers take their organizations to the
next level of operational excellence by providing dealer students with
the most current training and tools to ensure the longevity of their
existing dealer enterprise.
|
Q:
| How long will it take to complete the Course? |
A:
| Depending on your chosen track, the Dealer Candidate® Course is either a two or three-year program that requires
classroom and on-the-job training throughout. Students are required
to attend two or three sessions each year, depending on their chosen track. In addition, practical application homework assignments are due between sessions.
|
Q:
| How is the Dealer Candidate® Course different from other training programs? |
A:
| Most training available today for the equipment industry
is a one to five day event-style program. Jerkins Creative Consulting
offers a three-year sequential course structure to develop a
broader-thinking, successful manager. All classes have built-in
accountability to ensure each student displays what he/she has learned.
Students develop financial and operational skills to lead a successful
multi-location equipment dealership. Outside class assignments and
on-the-job exercises help to cultivate true behavioral changes in
students. The courses collectively address Parts and Service
operations, as well as whole good sales to create internal management
alignment instead of independent departmental attitudes. Students
develop true sales, marketing, and leadership skills. Managers learn
mentoring skills for the next generation of managers and support
staff. Managers become professional leaders with the progressive
business acumen.
|
Q:
| It is inconvenient to have employees gone during peak business times. How do you accommodate this? |
A:
| Typically, the first day of training runs from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m., and the last day of training runs from 7:30 a.m. to around 3:00 p.m. These class times allow for travel to the class on the first day of training and the class concludes
early enough on the last day to allow for travel time. In addition, we do not schedule
these classes around your peak times.
|
Q:
| What happens if the employee that I am putting through the program leaves the dealership? |
A:
| You can put another student into the course. However,
for your benefit and the student's benefit, the past homework needs to
be completed. This will help the student with upcoming classes as well
as giving him/her the knowledge to operate a future successful
dealership!
|
Q:
| How is this Course different from a 20 group? |
A:
| In a 20-group structure, participants analyze all
elements of each other's dealerships, including financials and
operational issues with all topics open for discussion, debate, and
review. In the Dealer Candidate Course, like a 20-group program,
valuable relationships will develop over the duration of time; however,
there is no cross-sharing of financials or key operational data in the
Course. The Dealer Candidate Course has more of a student-facilitator
flavor, than an open discussion forum. This Course will provide hard
operational training, delivered by experts in their fields. |
